Willimantic: Industry & Community

Willimantic Industry and Community:

The Rise and Decline of a Connecticut Textile City,

was originally published by the Windham Textile and History Museum in 1993. It is now in its third printing, and consists of two parts. The first part traces the history of the Thread City's numerous, cotton and silk industries. The second part consists of oral histories featuring the men and women who spent their lives working in Willimantic's cotton and silk mills. It also traces the numerous ethnic groups, the French-Canadians, the Irish, Italians and Poles who called Thread City home.
