Connecticut Speaks for Itself

This book was originally published in 1996 by the Connecticut Humanities Council. It feature the history of the Constitution State as seen through the eyes of the people who actually lived that history. It features diary entries, letters, newspaper accounts and oral history interviews to paint a compelling picture of this fascinating Southern New England State. It particularly features details about the eastern section of the state, so often overlooked by writers and historians. You can read first hand accounts of the Revolutionary War, of workers' experiences in the state's diverse industries, and there's a particular focus upon the history of the state's most well known women.
